National student union of India (NSUI) activists draped in blue Personal protective equipment (PPE) kits, staged a protest at Pragati Bhavan against Telangana State government’s decision to conduct exams, while a petition is still pending in High court. Apparently few of the activists have not worn masks as the police forcibly dragged them them outside the gate.
In a short clip, 52 protestors can be seen running from a van by holding a tricolor flag with stars in the centre along with a NSUI flag. They caused an uproar at the Pragati bhavan gate and shouted slogans `NSUI’ and `We want justice’ to show their disapproval. Later the police detained them.
Of late a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was registered in the HC by the NSUI state president Venkat Balmuri to cancel the degree and PG entrance exams in Telangana, which is still ongoing and due for next hearing on 17th August.
Turning a deaf ear, the advocate general asserted that cancellation of exams cannot be done and the dates of exams will be announced in two or three weeks. Meanwhile Venkat upbraided the state government saying that no safety had been assured as most of the students are in quarantine or containment zones and they would miss writing the exams.
