A lot of chatter has been going around regarding actress Nayantara and her husband, director Vignesh Shivan, regarding how the couple became parents, via surrogacy. The couple announced recently that they are the proud parents of twins, which set in motion a lot of controversies. The Tamil Nadu government kept a close eye on the couple after it was speculated widely that they violated the laws of surrogacy in India.
A notice was sent to the private hospital which took care of the surrogacy procedure, by the health department, which posed the following question to the hospital: “Why the ART center of the hospital should not be shut down for not retaining the documents in the surrogate mother case?” The health department also constituted a four-member panel to investigate the process of their surrogacy.
Tamil Nadu Health Minister, Ma Subramanian, informed the media that the hospital administration will have to face legal action for not maintaining the documents regarding the surrogacy procedures of the couple, and for not maintaining information about the surrogate mother. This news comes as a huge relief for Vignesh Shivan and Nayantara though, as they have not been found guilty.
