The much anticipated announcement regarding Team India’s squad for the coming series against South Africa has been made and much to everyone’s amusement there is no trace of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the same.
Shortly after, the BCCI came up with the reason why Rohit and Kohli were not named in the squad.
“Mr Rohit Sharma and Mr Virat Kohli had requested the Board for a break from the white-ball leg of the tour. Mr Mohd. Shami is currently undergoing medical treatment and his availability is subject to fitness.” the statement from the BCCI read.
Rohit has been named as the captain for the test squad though. This could well be an indication that Rohit and Kohli could slowly be moving away from the white-ball format for the Indian side.
