In a great relief, Hyderabad City police clarified that there are no restrictions on carrying own food and water bottles into multiplexes and theaters.
The way multiplexes charge heavy amount on food and drinks make the normal public skip from walking out from their seats in movie intervals. Generally, the prices of beverages and food in multiplexes are 10 times heavier than the actual prices. Earlier, several complaints have been lodged on such acts but nothing could stop the trend. Finally, it seems a proper conclusion has come now that could break the existing merciless trend.
Vijay Gopal, an anti-corruption activist went against it and filed a case. He also registered an RTI query on the same. Responding to it, the police clarified that as per the Cinema Regulation Act of 1955, the law has no such curbs to carry food and water into movie theaters.

But several multiplexes are stopping the public from taking food citing security issues and are thus making business out of the loophole by charging heavy prices on food and drinks.
Apart from food and drinks, the RTI query also restricted the single screen theaters from charging for 3D glasses. Adding to it, the management also has no right to stop customers from carrying their own 3D glasses to theaters. Finally, the latest revelation has turned out to be a great relief to the middle class who cannot afford such heavy prices in rich theaters.
