The Covid-19 cases in Telangana continue to rise with each passing day. After looking at the situation in the state, the Telangana High Court has asked the state government to consider enforcing a weekend lockdown in the state.
Now, Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said that there is no need for a lockdown since the pandemic is under control.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the CS said that the state in full control of the situation. He also said that it is not convincingly proved that imposition of a lockdown would lead to a fall in the virus cases.
Mr Somesh Kumar, however, said that the government would look at the suggestion of the High Court. He said the CM would take a timely decision on the lockdown. “But, as of now, there was no need and any such measure would deprive people of their livelihoods,” he said.
The High Court, which reviewed the Covid-19 situation in the state today, has expressed its dissatisfaction over fewer Coronavirus tests in the state despite its earlier directions to increase the testing rate.
