Netizens demand IT minister to admonish twitter for showing Indian parts in China

A major issue for the Indian Govt has cropped up massively after a Twitter user reported how the social media site shows India’s parts of Leh and Jammu-Kashmir to be in the People’s Republic of China.

The issue was brought to notice by Kanchan Gupta, Distinguished Fellow, Observer Research Foundation (ORF) after tweets automatically tagged J&K as a part of China.

Twitter has decided to reconfigure geography and declare Jammu & Kashmir as part of People’s Republic of #China . If this is not a violation of #India laws, what is? Citizens of India have been punished for far less. But US Big Tech is above the law?”, Gupta tweeted tagging Telecom and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Netizens began fuming over twitter for showing Indian parts as a Chinese territory. Many of them even demanded IT minister Ravi Shankar to admonish twitter for its irresponsibility that hurted the sentiments of nationals.

One of the users said it’s high time for these social media giants to be held accountable for stupidity.
