Nani’s Dasara had a bright start at the box office. But that was it. The film failed to hold the momentum post that and it has now ended up as a pan-Indian disaster with deficits and huge losses in most areas.
With pan Indian dreams, Nani aggressively promoted the film in North India and parts of South India. The publicity costs alone were Rs 7+ crores. The film couldn’t recover even a part of it as it collected less than Rs 1.5 crore outside South India.
The makers tried to attract other language audiences with Keerthy(Tamil), Deekshit Shetty(Kannada), and Shine Chakko(Malayalam). But neither could pull the respective audience.
The film is an outright dud outside the Telugu states. Even in mass Telugu belts like Ceded, it is a loss venture with over 50% losses.
After the solid start, Nani would’ve hoped to score the ever-elusive mass hit. But what came later is a sorry story with huge losses in almost every area. It couldn’t even recover publicity costs in many major segments, which has come as a big shock to the team.
Even in Telugu states, the collections dropped significantly after the first weekend. The film is already a disaster in pan Indian belt and it will also leave losses in certain areas of Telugu states.
The film did well in USA and Nizam, which the makers used to their advantage to project big gross numbers. But due to the mixed talk, the film struggled in other areas, resulting in losses.
