After YSRCP government has announced to ban TV5 and ABN channels in Andhra Pradesh, as expected, there is a severe backlash from the main opposition party.
Responding to it in a public meeting, TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu said, “how can the ministers threaten the news channels not to broadcast genuine news about public’s suffering. The government is trying to suppress the news channels like it suppressed the Opposition.”
He further added that the people have right to choose whichever channel they would want to watch and the government cannot ban media on its own. But Naidu is ignoring the point that the same logic applies to him too.

In TDP’s regime, Naidu stopped the release of Lakshmi’s NTR movie in Andhra Pradesh. Even though director Ram Gopal Varma made numerous attempts to release the film, TDP government did not allow him to do so and not even allowed him to conduct a press meet for it. Finally, the film got released only after Naidu stepped down from the Chief Minister’s chair.
If Naidu argues that the public has right to choose their channel, then why did he ignore the fact that the public also has the right to pick their choice of movies?
