Telangana: The election authorities were on receiving end from the citizens who arrived to cast vote for ongoing polls in Telangana. Amid rise of the new covid cases, centre ordained the election authorities to take safety precautions in prior that resulted in a backlash from voters.
With elections scheduled on Wednesday, many voters’ names were reportedly went amiss in their respective divisions. In general the loopholes are fixed much earlier than division of voter lists. Nonetheless, the major political parties reportedly did not work on this important aspect, resulting in a chaos during election time and every family member had got a different polling booth ranging 3-5 kms away.
Many individuals raised their concern as they have been compelled to split up despite being a same family member from the same residence. They affirmed that the election officials involved in allotment of voters to each booth did not do their duty properly in prior, as a result of which the family members were separated from polling booths causing discomfort to them.
Voting was underway in several polling booths across the state till 10 p.m. The highest number of votes were recorded in Jogulamba-Gadwal that garnered 75.9% followed by Vikarabad that recorded 75% votes. Tentative polling percentage for Warangal- Khammam-Nalgonda constituency is found to be 64.7%.
