Covid-19 cases are still rising despite being 8 months from it’s outbreak in India. Although there was a decline in cases and deaths a month ago, the number of cases once again rose in Delhi making it problematic to the administration to control.
Union home minister Amit Shah will organise a meeting today evening to assess the spike in the number of coronavirus infection (Covid-19) cases in national capital Delhi. The meeting is scheduled at 5 pm today along wit high rank officers.
Union health minister Harsh Vardhan, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal will grace the conference. Reportedly, the high-level meeting will include discussion on introducing safety measures and advancements to curb the spread of the virus infection.
The national capital reported 7,340 new Covid-19 cases and 96 deaths on Saturday, as per the health bulletin released by the state government. Currently the total cases in the national capital rose to 4,82,170.
Although Kejriwal recently assured that they will control the spread in a week, experts assert that the situation is alarming and can easily take at least three weeks. Dr Lalit Kant, former head of the epidemiology and communicable diseases at the Indian Council of Medical Research suggested that restriction on non essential activities like marketing hours, group gatherings is the need of the hour.
