IPL 2020: MI Vs KKR match analysis: Mumbai Gets a Comfortable Win Against Kolkata

Once again, Mumbai proved how good a team it is. With a complete effort from both batsmen and the bowlers, they won today’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders by 8 wickets. All the bowlers have done well for Mumbai. On the batting front, it was Quinton de Kock (78*) and Rohit Sharma (35) who have made things easy for MI. Barring Pat Cummins (53*) and Eoin Morgan (39*), no one played well for KKR.

Eoin Morgan got appointed as KKR’s new captain. After winning the toss, he elected to bat first. His plan didn’t go well as KKR never really got a start. Opener Rahul Tripathi got dismissed by a stunner taken by Surya Kumar Yadav in the third over. After that, Nitish Rana got out in the sixth over. In the eighth over, Shubman Gill was dismissed. In the 10th over, Andre Russell got back to the pavilion over. When all the batsmen got out, captain Eoin Morgan and Pat Cummins tried to build the scoreboard without losing wickets. They didn’t lose their wickets but they failed to post a big score. However, Cummins scored a fantastic half-century under such pressure. With their effort, KKR managed to score 148/5 in 20 overs.

Mumbai got a superb start while chasing this low score. Openers Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma started hitting right from the beginning. Especially, the former was smacking balls all over the park. Soon, he completed his half-century as well. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma got out when the team’s score was 95. Within a few overs, KKR managed to get the wicket of Surya Kumar Yadav. After that, de Kock and Hardik Pandya took care of the rest of the job. They scored 149/2 in 16.5 overs and won the game for Mumbai.
