Meter Review: Outdated and sleep inducing

Movie Name Meter
Star Cast Kiran Abbavaram, Athulya Ravi
Director Ramesh Kaduri
Producer Chiranjeevi Peddamallu
Music Sai Karthik
Run Time 2 hr 7 Mins
Release Date April 7th 2023

Young actor Kiran Abbavaram has come up with a brand new film, titled Meter. The movie is produced by Mythri Movie Makers, and has been released today. There have been decent expectations on the movie, and especially because Kiran’s last film was a good success. Let’s see how Meter has turned out to be upon release.

Story:

Arjun Kalyan’s father has always wanted to make his son a police officer. However, Arjun never wanted to be a police officer. Against all odds, Arjun becomes a police officer. While Arjun tries to get himself suspended from his job, he ends up making only positive differences in the society. This is when his life changes, when he meets the Home Minister. What happens between him and the home minister forms the rest of the story.

On-Screen Performances:

Kiran Abbavaram has given an okay performance in his character as Arjun, a boy who becomes a police officer against his will. His scenes with the leading lady are not that engaging, and neither are his scenes with the antagonist. After a certain point, Kiran’s action becomes routine, as the actor doesn’t seem like he has a lot to offer when it comes to action, especially in this film. His character is also written in a very poor manner and has just one layer to it.

Athulyaa Ravi, the leading lady of the film, doesn’t have a lot to do in the film but looks good though. Had she been absent from the film, it wouldn’t have made much difference to the plot.

Posani Krishna Murali and the remaining supporting cast are okay in their roles, and do what they’re given well enough.

Off-Screen Talents:

Director Ramesh Kaduri has come up with a routine plot, which he treated in a very routine manner as well. The screenplay of the film is the biggest negative aspect of the film, as it stretches out unnecessarily, and over exaggerates emotions and scenes beyond what is required. The interval twist was the only good thing about the entire movie, but even that wasn’t executed well. The first half is better than the second half, but the movie on the whole is an utter bore and has nothing to entertain the audience.

The music is pretty much forgettable, and so is the background score – neither of which make any impact at all to the film.

The production design of the film is good, but the editing is very bad, and could have been done in a much better manner.

Plus Points:

  • A few dialogues

Minus Points:

  • Story
  • Screenplay
  • Pacing

Verdict: Meter is not a film that would make you feel interested in watching it even for an hour. You will either find yourself very much bored and yawning, or walking out of the film. It can be very much avoided.
