Popular website Film Companion recently hosted a round table discussion Actors Adda with eight actors, who were featured in their list of ‘100 Greatest Performers of the Decade’.
This included Vijay Sethupathi, Vijay Deverakonda, Parvathy, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Manoj Bajpayee, and Ayushmann Khurrana. The discussion was moderated by film critic and Film Companion’s founder Anupama Chopra.
The discussions happened on various subjects. However, it is Parvathy’s take on the controversial film Arjun Reddy that’s gone viral. During the interview, Parvathy didn’t mince her words and spoke her mind in criticizing the concept of Arjun Reddy in front of Vijay Deverakonda.
“When a man is being misogynistic and abusive, and you show that in a way that incites applause in the audience, then that’s glorification. There has to be commercial, there has to be fun. But without demeaning gender.”
Calling herself a feminist, she further admitted, “I can feel lustful towards a character and not make it vulgar and dispensable. With respect bhi ho sakta hai. I’m definitely against such films that glorify such characters.”
Within no time, the netizens came out in support of Parvathy and lauded her for honestly and rightly speaking out her mind.
