‘Love You Ram’ Review – Pedestrian and Clichéd.

Movie Name Love You Ram
Star Cast Rohit Behal, Aparna Janardhan
Director DY Chowdary
Producer DY Chowdary, Dasarath
Music K. Veda
Run Time 1h 58m
Release Date 30 Jun, 2023

‘Love You Ram’, produced by Mana Entertainment and Sri Chakra Films, hit the screens today. The film is written by K Dasaradh of ‘Santosham’ and Mr. Perfect fame.

Story:

Ram (Rohit Behal) and Divya (Aparna Janardanan) are childhood acquaintances separated in the present by time and space. He is a millionaire in Norway and she is a middle-class person in Hyderabad. After he tastes affluence, Ram starts showing his true colours. He is self-centered, mean, uncouth, and money-minded. Hoodwink people, win their trust and exploit them. This is his mantra.

Ram approaches Divya to marry her. He believes he can subjugate her because she is economically lesser than him. The rest of the story is about the consequences of their proposed marriage alliance and wedding.

Performances:

Rohit Behal doesn’t look like a ‘Telugu inti kurrodu’. He makes his character’s pettiness too obvious. The TV serial-level treatment also brings down his performance by several notches. Aparna Janardhan’s mawkish acting is outdated. The film’s many characters/supporting artists don’t help either. Banerjee is seen as the heroine’s dad. Dasaradh has a full-fledged role as the hero’s exploited assistant.

Technical Departments:

Producers DY Chowdary and K Dasaradh don’t ensure rich values. Sai Santhosh’s cinematography is vapid. K Vedaa’s music lacks energy and imaginativeness. SB Uddav’s editing is sloppy. The art direction by Guru Murali Krishna leaves the film stuck in a time warp.

‘Love U Ram’ was shot in Norway, a country notorious for being hyper-expensive for film shoots. The richness of the country doesn’t translate on the big screen, though.

Plus Points:

  • A few dialogues.
  • The overall theme.

Minus Points:

  • Weak screenplay, especially the temple visit track.
  • Slow-paced narration.
  • Lack of emotional highs.
  • Artificial characterizations.
  • The melodramatic family scenes in the second half.

Overall Analysis:

The film is blighted by a below-par screenplay (by Kishore Gopu, Shiva Mokka). Praveen Varma’s dialogues don’t hit the bull’s eye. The themes explored don’t gel with us.

While humour works here and there, there is zero believability. The male lead doesn’t behave like a millionaire anywhere. There is no reason why he must marry a woman from a humble economic background.

In our films, rich men are always insensitive and cringe. This film portrays the male lead and his relationship with the female lead in the style of a 1990s movie.

Involving unfamiliar artists in family scenes makes the film seem like a boring TV serial.

Verdict: ‘Love You Ram’ is pedestrian and clichéd.
