Kochi auto driver wins Rs 12 crore lottery

No one knows in what form the luck will knock on the door. An auto driver from Kerala has won a Rs 12 crore lottery and changed his fate completely.

As per reports, a 58-year-old auto-rickshaw driver from Ernakulam district of Kerala was announced as the winner of the Rs 12 crore Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery instituted by the state government.

Jayapalan P R, a resident of Maradu in Kochi, was confirmed as the first prize winner of the lottery after he presented the original copy of the prize-winning ticket at the nearby bank branch.

Jayapalan is an auto driver at the Ambedkar Junction auto stand at Maradu. “I bought the prize-winning ticket from Meenakshi lotteries near Statue Junction on September 10 as I felt it was a fancy number,” Jayapalan said.

The ticket with the serial number TE 645465 won the first prize in the results revealed on Sunday. After deducting taxes and the agency’s commission, he will get a sum of nearly Rs 7.4 crore.
