Kerala government to launch its own OTT platform

OTT (Over the Top) platforms have become a part of everyone’s life and the popularity of these streaming applications has been increasing with each passing day.

Now, the state government of Kerala is planning to launch its own Over The Top (OTT) platform or run one in collaboration with an existing platform, to promote smaller films.

“The government is looking at the possibility of starting an OTT platform on its own or rent out the services of an already existing platform,” Minister for Cultural Affairs Saji Cherian has said.

He said that in the present COVID-19 situation, an OTT platform under the government’s authority is necessary to help small budget films to find an audience. The minister also said that the state was also thinking to launch an online platform to support cultural programmes, including dramas and stage shows.
