Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief, and Telangana Chief Minister KCR, has been trying to emerge as a key player in national politics, trying to set up a third major front in the centre, opposing the Bharatiya Janata Party. However, it now seems as though Trinamool Congress chief Mamta Banerjee has taken over KCR in that aspect.
On Wednesday, she almost announced that she is going to spearhead the fight against Narendra Modi in the centre, and is also planning to take on Modi in Varanasi in the next election. She also signalled that all other regional parties, including Akhilesh Yadav of Samajwadi Party and KCR of Telangana, join her. With over 200 MLA seats, Mamta has the third-highest number of MP seats in the Parliament and a significant number of Rajya Sabha seats and is even planning to campaign for Akhilesh Yadav.
Even Tamil Nadu CM, Stalin, whom KCR met with recently, has categorically said that he has not discussed national politics and the third front with KCR. Stalin has recently written letters to 35 key leaders to join hands against the BJP at the Centre, but KCR is not one among them. All of this is showing that KCR’s attempts to emerge as an important player in national politics is coming to nothing. With just nine MP seats, KCR is not being taken seriously at the national level. Both Mamta and Stalin have clearly shown that they neither trust KCR nor have any role for him at the national level, resulting in all of KCR’s plans going for a toss.
