KCR orders CID investigation into Srisailam fire accident

The Srisailam Hydel Power Project had witnessed a fire accident late last night, leading to a massive cause of concern. The fire that had started in the panels soon spread throughout the unit, and was beyond the control of the staff working there.

Reportedly, there were 17 members working at the unit at that point, out of which 8 members are said to have escaped. The other 9 members, unfortunately got stuck in the plant, and have lost their lives.

Despite trying their level best to escape via the escape tunnels, these 9 members couldn’t do so because of the heavy smoke that surrounded them.

Additionally, 3 members have been severely injured, who are now receiving treatment in the nearest hospital.

As soon as word got out, TS Electricity Minister G.Jagdish Reddy, Genco CMD Devulapalli Prabhakar Rao and other officials rushed to the site and oversaw the rescue process, trying to rescue as many members as possible.

Chief Minister KCR has ordered for a thorough CID investigation into the matter, and has directed Additional DGP of the CID to include the factors that led to the accident in a report that he has to submit within a week’s time.

The Chief Minister also expressed his deepest condolences to all those who have been injured, and has implored the concerned authorities to make sure that everyone is fine and that they are properly rescued.

Several rescue teams have been deployed at the sight to save those who have been stuck inside. Three members from Singareni Collieries Company Limited, a state-owned coal miner, have also been roped in for rescue work.
