Rating: 3/5

Story:

Krishnamurthy (Rajendra Prasad), a farmer in a village is passionate of cricket. His daughter Kausalya (Aishwarya Rajesh) identifies his father’s interest in the sport and decides to become a cricketer to make him happy. Overjoyed with her decision, Krishnamurthy gives all the required support to make her a cricketer. What are the consequences she faced from the society for picking up cricket as a profession and how did she overcome those and went forward to achieve her goal is what forms the crux of Kausalya Krishnamurthy.

Performances:

Aishwarya Rajesh in the role of an obedient daughter has performed well. She was able to exhibit most of her expressions through the eyes, which could take her to the greater heights in the acting career. Rajendra Prasad as a farmer nailed his role. He was able to show the typical farmer’s attitude in his body language. Jhansi as Kausalya’s mother and Karthik Raju as boyfriend justified their roles.

Technical highlights:

Background score is one of the major highlights of Kausalya Krishnamurthy, as it elevated the emotions in the scenes. Photography is good and so the editing. Director Bheemaneni Srinivas, who is known for directing the remakes, picked a Tamil movie Kanaa and remade it in Telugu as Kausalya Krishnamurthy. He was able to deliver a good product with the right mix of emotions at appropriate times.

Analysis:

Films based on sports, that too cricket are not new to the Indian cinema. But dealing the farmer problems simultaneously and connecting it with the sport is something that makes Kausalya Krishnamurthy bit interesting. Though the story is predictable, it is the screenplay that makes the audience engaged throughout.

Finally:

Kausalya Krishnamurthy is a regular sports drama but with an engaging screenplay.
