Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is planning to conduct the Panchayat elections in February next year, before his term as SEC comes to an end in March.
It is Nimmagadda’s wish to complete all local body elections before his term in office ends next year, and the SEC has been trying his best to do that. However, the government is the least bit interested in conducting any elections while Nimmagadda is in office.
Speaking to the media about the same, TDP member and former minister JC Diwakar Reddy said that the government is hell bent on making sure that no election will take place while Nimmagadda is still the SEC of the state.
JC also said that the Jagan government will go to any length to make sure that they get their way. He said that if the government chooses to go to the Supreme Court in the matter, half the time would be over by then, following which Nimmagadda’s term would come to end, meaning that the government will have successfully made sure that the local body elections are not conducted while Nimmagaddda is in office.
Furthermore, JC said that Nimmagadda is stupid for thinking that he will be able to conduct any elections without the support of the government, as he needs to get financial aid from the government. And given that the government is the least bit interested in cooperating with the SEC, JC said that there’s no way that Nimmagadda will be able to conduct any elections.
