The Telugu Desam Party had many negatives during its tenure, because of which the people of Andhra Pradesh wished for a change in the government, and voted for the YSRCP. Almost as if crashing all of their hopes, the YSRCP is sort of making the same mistakes of the TDP, especially with its concept of ‘shadow MLAs’. This is because many of the MLAs live in Bengaluru, Chennai or Hyderabad.
The problem ahs become worse in the Srikakulam district, where the whole show is run by the proxies of the MLAs. The MLAs are said to visit their constituencies only when their signatures are needed, with their proxies running the entire show otherwise. In Etcherla constituency, the nephew of MLA Gorla Ravikumar, is running the show, and the same is the case with Palasa. In Amadalavalasa, which is represented by Speaker Tammineni Sitaram, his son is running the show. In fact, the speaker is reportedly planning to hand over the baton to his son in the 2024 elections.
This behaviour of the MLAs is said to be upsetting Chief Minsiter Jagan, as he is afraid that the people will alienate the YSRCP, like they have the TDP. As a result, Jagan is said to be intent on talking to all of his MLAs pretty soon, and make things right before they entirely slip out of his hands.
