Andhra Pradesh government has cancelled the licenses of all bars across the state, with immediate effect and brought a new policy. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy promised to ban alcohol before the elections. While many felt that it would be impossible to implement, it seems the young CM is finally making it possible.
After cancelling the licenses of all bars in the state, Jagan introduced a new policy, through which the license fee for new bars has been increased to Rs. 10 lakh and for hotels and micro beverages, the fee would be Rs. 1.5 Crore.

Hereafter, the new bars will be given license only on lottery method. Regarding this, the YSRCP government is soon going to start the tendering process. It is widely believed that the aim of the new policy is to reduce bars by 40% in each Urban Local Body (ULB). i.e., municipal corporation, municipality and Nagar Panchayat. The new bar policy will be implemented for next two years.
Meanwhile, the TDP activists are lashing out at Jagan’s new policy, saying that the CM has promised to ban alcohol completely, but not come up with the new policy again.
