Ever since the YSRCP government came to power last year, more than anything else, their main concern has been to checkmate everything that concerns the opposition party leader, and TDP Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
As part of that, the Jagan cabinet approved the Amul dairy project in the state of Andhra Pradesh, and the operations regarding the project will start as soon as on December 2nd.
The dairy department has already made plans for the procurement of milk from Prakasam, Chittoor, and Kadapa districts. Amul was specifically selected by the AP government, considering Amul’s branding and expansion all over the country.
The AP government signed an MoU with the Gujarat based Amul, and aims at encouraging and empowering milk based societies, especially the ones owned and run by women. Nearly 5.6 Lakh women are involved in the project, all of whom come under the YSR Cheyutha scheme.
A total of Rs. 1,362 Crores is expected to be spent for the development of infrastructure for the development of dairy sectors in the state, which includes Bulk Milk Cooling Units and Milk Collection Centres in Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBK). In the first phase, about 7,121 Milk Collection Centres and 2,774 BMCUs will be set up.
