Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been handling several issues as his position demands. While a few programs like pension, ban on bauxite mining etc are receiving good appreciations, a few like silence on Amaravati, demolition of Praja Vedika etc are receiving huge criticism. But there was never any huge outrage from the public. But finally, one such situation has been witnessed in the state today.
Jagan never announced to abolish ration dealers system before the elections. Even when Janasena Chief Pawan Kalyan has announced to do the same, there was heavy criticism from the ration dealers. Even then, Jagan continued to remain silent and now after forming the government, he came up with an initiative of grama volunteers to substitute the ration dealers in the state. These grama volunteers will be assigned with the responsibility of supplying the goods to the public.

The decision has led to severe backlash from the ration dealers, as all of them would lose livelihood. They opined that the new CM is planning to provide employment to the people belonging to his party, in the name of grama volunteers and ignoring the common public.
While the ration dealers planned to protest in front of CM’s residence in Tadepally, the police who came to know about it, the police stopped them and also arrested a few, saying that they do not have any permission to do so.
This can be considered as a first major jolt to the new government, as most of the ration dealers, would have voted Jagan and would obviously not repeat the same in the next elections.
