YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh has announced to ban bauxite mining in Andhra Pradesh, as there is a severe criticism from all the sides.
Jagan withdrew the G.O. 97, given by the TDP government earlier, that allows the AP Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) to mine bauxite ore in 1,212 hectares of the reserve forest area in Chintapalle and Jerella.
Numerous protests have been conducted against the mining, by the tribals, NGOs, social and environmental activists, which made the earlier TDP government, put the G.O. on hold for long.

As there is no change in the situation, even the new CM Jagan has decided to give up on mining and decided to ban it completely. He is now being lauded by the activists, for his decision. Though there is an official ban on bauxite mining, as there would be scope for secret mining, Jagan has ordered the concerned officials to make sure no such works take place.
During TDP government, even Janasena Chief Pawan Kalyan went in support of tribals and requested the then CM Chandrababu Naidu to ban bauxite mining. But, as Jagan could do it now, it should be seen whether the actor turned politician responds to the issue and appreciate his decision or not.
