Several times in the past, the Central government has mentioned that it is not going to give special category status to Andhra Pradesh under any circumstances and also strictly said that it is a closed chapter.
Confirming one more time, Union minister of state for home Nityananda Rai said, “We have already announced a special package to the state and hence, there is no way we can give special category status.”
In a reply to YSRCP MP Balli Durgaprasad, the Union Minister wrote that the Centre is not at all concerned about the special status and is focusing on other issues mentioned in the reorganization act.

BJP is keen to make it big in Andhra Pradesh, as the party has performed much below the expectations in the state, while it has witnessed magical results across the country. Regarding this, it has already managed to attract leaders of other parties from the Telugu states.
But, it seems that, there would be any way for the Lotus Party to get a notable position in AP, as it is strictly against granting special status. Even after realizing it in the recent elections, it is surprising to know that the BJP is still trying to keep expectations on the state, without giving special status.
