On December 21st, surprise Income Tax raids were conducted at several branches of Yashoda Hospitals in the twin cities. Several raids were also conducted at the houses of several staff members. The raids were conducted in the first place because there were reportedly many discrepancies in the tax returns of Yashoda Hospitals.
Cash and gold that was unaccounted for, was found on the first day of the raid. Extensive searching was done at the corporate office of the hospitals, which is located at Nagarjuna Hills, and several staff members were also questioned. Early this morning, nearly 20 teams are said to have been deployed for searching every place related to the hospitals, and many of them were sent to the houses of several directors of the hospitals as well.
The raids are said to have initially begun at the house of one director, who then assisted the IT team in searching the hospitals around the city. A lot of cash that is unaccounted for, has been reportedly found at the Punjagutta branch.
Pavan Kumar Gorukanti, Gorukanti Vijaya Lakshmi, Ravender Gorukanti Rao and Suresh Kumar Tummala are the directors of Yashoda Hospitals, of whom Tummala was appointed in February 2020. It has come to light that Ravendaer Gorukanti is also the director to 16 other companies, and Pavan Kumar is the director to 7 other companies.
More details about the raids are yet to be revealed, as the raids are still in progress.
