The Income Tax department on Wednesday conducted special searches at properties of actress Taapsee Pannu, filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena. The IT searches are in connection with Kashyap’s Phantom Films, which was dissolved in 2018, over allegations of tax evasion.
As many as 22 locations are raided by the Income Tax department, including the Kwan talent management agency.
Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, producer Madhu Mantena, and Vikas Bahl found this film production company, Phantom Films, in the year 2011. In 2015, Reliance Entertainment bought a 50 percent stake in the company.
After backing many movies, the production company was terminated in 2018 facing a sexual assault allegation on Vikas Bahl. Taapsee Pannu collaborated with Phantom Films for 2018’s Manmarziyaan.
