More and more producers are getting scared to produce big-budget films, and are choosing their directors carefully. This is because many directors are failing to deliver on the big risk that producers are taking on them. The most recent example of this is Ravanasura, featuring Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja in the lead role. The movie is directed by Sudheer Varma, who is known for Swamy Raa Raa. Ravanasura was a massive opportunity for the director, who faced continuous flops in the form of Dochey, Kesava, and Ranarangam. What’s more, Ravanasura was also made on a big budget – meaning that the producers placed a really high bet on a flop director.

Interestingly, Ravanasura is a copy of the Bengali film Vinci Da, which is very clear from the way the screenplay of the film has been written. If one watches Vinci Da and then Ravanasura, it would be very apparent that the director has not made any efforts to write a proper screenplay for the film, and was just lazy while adapting the movie, as everything seems like it’s been copy-pasted. What’s worse is that the director didn’t make good use of the huge cast he had in the film. Almost every actor is wasted, and even though Ravi Teja gave his best, even he was wasted by the improper characterization he was given in the movie. Absolutely no care seems to have been taken by the director when it came to executing the film, all of which is now reflected in the film’s verdict upon release.

Sources reveal that the director went overboard with a few scenes in Ravanasura, and got the producers to spend a lot more than required, all of which has now turned to ash for the producers. Ravanasura got negative reviews right from the premiere shows itself, making matters worse. Even though a scene from the movie was leaked to the audience, to increase the hype surrounding the film, the makers failed to generate any hype, and the movie is expected to tank at the box office.

Moreover, Ravanasura puts Ravi Teja back in a tight spot, from which he emerged only recently, with the grand success of Dhamaka. The actor had huge hopes of delivering a second consecutive hit with Ravansura, but the film’s result has now turned out to be the exact opposite of his hopes.

On the whole, time and again, young directors are failing actors and producers by delivering less than decent films, even after using up a lot of budgets. This is decreasing the willingness of producers to invest huge amounts of money into making films. If the trend continues to go this way, then there would be just one or two directors who would continue to make big budget films, and this would put the industry in a creatively tight spot.
