Indian news publishers exhorts Indian government to ban Chinese news apps

Following a huge uproar from Indian citizens due to the Galwan valley confrontation between India and China, the Indian legislature has banned 59 Chinese apps as a strong reply to China. However, politicians like Mamata Benerjee and media officials proclaim, banning the apps is not just enough and India need to show much bigger retaliation in a diplomatic way.

Also in a befitting reply to China prohibiting access to Indian newspapers and websites, Indian print and digital news publishers have insisted the Indian government to ban all Chinese news apps and platforms that accessible in India.

The president of Indian Newspaper society, Shailesh Gupta, has claimed that Indian news related content had already been blocked with an advanced secure firewall in China in such a way that despite utilising VPN, the Indian news will be inaccessible.

The INS president labelled China’s action as ‘gratuitous’ and ‘inappropriate’ and exhorted the Indian Government to expeditiously prohibit access to Chinese related news and media including cessation of Chinese investments.

In this regard, Digital News Publisher Association (DNPA) has strongly censured the Chinese government’s move and supported strong revenge against China. Pawan Agarwal, head of DPNA said that Indian government ought to ban all Chinese news related apps that is invested by China so as to avoid any prejudiced information reaching to Indian citizens.
