In a positive development, India has recorded daily Covid-19 cases fall below 1 lakh, for the first time since April 1. The country reported 85,801 new cases and 2,115 new deaths of Covid across India on Monday.
With the latest addition, the total number of infections in India rose to 28,996,949 while the deaths reached 351,344.
The low case count, however, recorded due to the drastically reduced number of tests. On Sunday, nearly 15.9 lakh Covid tests were conducted, less than half the number done on the previous day (35.7 lakh).
As per the official data, the five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (5,842,000), Karnataka (2,707,481), Kerala (2,642,395), Tamil Nadu (2,256,681), and Andhra Pradesh (1,763,211).
On the other hand, the cumulative number of Coronavirus vaccine doses administered in the country exceeded 23.59 crore, with over 31 lakh doses given on Monday.
