India celebrates its Independence Day on August 15th every year, which it fought hard for, from the British, who ruled India for more than 200 years. As a result, it is a rare and honourable thing for Indians to see the Indian flag flutter in glory, in England.
The very same thing happened at London’s Lord’s stadium today, where the Indian cricket team celebrated the country’s Independence day, with captain Virat Kohli, and coach Ravi Shastri, hoisting the Indian flag and then singing the national anthem with the rest of the team. The Indian cricket team, along with their families, celebrated Independence day in London today.
On the other hand, on the occasion of Independence Day, the Lord’s Stadium administration gave a special opportunity to Indian Women’s Cricket team player Deepti Sharma, by letting her ring the bell and begin the fourth day of the second test match between India and England.
