India is slowly moving towards strict rules for culprits. Disha case encounter created sensation all over India and several people along with politicians publicly stated that the soul of Disha will rest in peace and the Police did the justice. There were few people who filed case in the Supreme Court claiming the encounter to be fake, but the majority were supporting the act of the Police force.
Nirbhaya case culprits were given death sentence long back but the execution was not yet done. As per the latest updates, government is planning to go ahead with the execution on December 16th in Tihar Jail. In the last 10 years, only four prisoners were given death sentence.
There has been a buzz in the media that one of the culprits pleaded the President of India for life long jail sentence over death sentence. In a recent interview, President of India Ram Nath Kovind stated that there is no way to approve the pleading of the culprits in this sort of cases. Government is aiming at December 16th for the execution, the same day when the Nirbhaya incident happened in 2012.
