In Car Movie Review: Brave Attempt Goes In Vain

In Car is a Telugu dubbed survival thriller film directed by Harsh Warrdhan. The film has Ritika Singh playing the lead role while Sandeep Goyat, Manish Jhanjholia, Sunil Soni, Gyan Prakash & others are seen playing key roles. The music is composed by Mathias Duplessy and the film is produced by Anjum Qureshi & Sajid Qureshi Reddy under Inbox Pictures banner.

Story:

The film is about a young girl’s terrifying journey of survival and the plot is set majorly in a car. A young college-going girl (Rithika Singh) is kidnapped by some miscreants. They hit her badly and plan to rape her in an isolated location. She looks for every chance to run off from them. But all her efforts go in vain. When she is left with no other option, she decides to fight back. Will she win the battle & escape? What happens later needs to be seen in the film.

What about on-screen performances?

Rithika Singh does a commendable performance as the victim. She needs to be appreciated for accepting a challenging role like this and it is surely a brave attempt from the young actress. She is particularly superb in the pre-climax portions.

Manish Jhanjholia is the pick of the actors from the rest of the cast. His body language is apt and he does a brilliant job as the vindictive rapist.

Sandeep Goyat and Sunil Soni are pretty decent as the other two culprits.

Gyan Prakash is good as the car driver while the rest of the cast are okay in their limited parts.

What about off-screen talents?

The story by Harsh Warrdhan has nothing out of the box except for most of the plot happening inside a car. Though it is a brave attempt, the core plot is very routine.

The screenplay is the biggest drawback of the film. For a survival film like this, the screenplay has to be racy and needs to have decent thrills but the makers fail in adding these aspects.

Director Harsh Warrdhan does a good job with his presentation but his narrative is another big culprit. The slow-paced storytelling doesn’t work and the narrative never keeps us engaged. There are many logics that go for a toss and the long conversations in between a serious crime makes it look dull. After a point, we stop sympathizing with the main character due to these unwanted conversations.

The Telugu dialogues are fine and the Telugu dubbing looks off-track at a few places.

The camera work by Mithun Gangopadhyay is the biggest asset of the film. The framing inside the car is perfectly done and especially the long drone shots are splendid on big screens.

The music by Mathias Duplessy is fine while the edit by Manik Dawar needed to be crisper.

The production values by Inbox Pictures are good.

What’s Hot?

  • Rithika Singh’s Performance
  • Manish Jhanjholia’s Performance
  • Brilliant Cinematography
  • Climax

What’s Not?

  • Poor Screenplay
  • Lacks Thrills
  • Logicless Scenes
  • Flat First 20 Minutes
  • Boring Conversations

Verdict: On the whole, In Car is a pale survival thriller that only keeps us engaged at the ending portions. Apart from Rithika Singh’s brave act, there is nothing much to crave about in this film.
