HSPA condemn Government’s decision to reopen schools for 6th, 7th and 8th classes

On 23rd, Education Minister Sabita Indrareddy declared that classes for 6, 7, and 8 standard students will begin from today.

The education minister said government decided to begin classes for 6, 7, and 8 standard students as per the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao. A GO was also issued on Tuesday by special chief secretary Chitra Ramchandran about the schools’ reopening.

Sabitha further said, the present digital classes shall resume and schools have been ordained to have the mix of offline and online modes. She suggested that every student must adhere to the Covid norms.

However, this seem to have pissed the parents as they felt it was too early to start the schools. The Hyderabad state parents association(HSPA) condemned the hasty move by the government. The association purported that the decision was taken without taking consent from parents only to let the schools collect admission fees.

Venkata Sainath, joint secretary, HSPA said, “What made the state make this decision in even a couple of days back the education minister said that the state is not going to start schools for younger kids as there are hardly one and a half months left for the academic year to end. Now all of a sudden they permitted schools”.

State did not bother to initiate action against 11 schools even when they violated GO No 46 on fee regulation but now they are supporting schools to loot money from parents, he added.
