HRD introduces new guidelines for students’ online classes

Ever since the lockdown was enforced, the schools began online classes for all classes of students. The digitalised education has been taking a toll on the students’ health. Many students have complained burning sensation, watery eyes, headaches and more. In this regard, a group of parents from Noida have demanded the government to provide a systematic approach or guidelines for such online classes.

In the wake of raising concerns from parents about their children’s online education, Ministry of Human Resource development (HRD) has formulated a set of new guidelines to amp up the learning process. A group of parents raised the concern that it has greatly increased the childrens’ screen viewing time, eventually causing itching, redness and computer vision syndrome.

Among these guidelines HRD directed the schools to conduct online classes for only 30 minutes for nursery children. It indicated that 1st to 8th class should have only two sessions of 45 minutes duration. 9th-12th class students can have four sessions of 30 to 45 minutes duration. The Center hinted to the parents to keep a tab of students’ physical, mental health and cybersecurity. Also the administration has put forth few guidelines to all the states regarding the education of children of migrant workers who have returned home in the wake of the covid-19.
