TB Graph: How India failed to ‘LOCK VIRUS’ spread

Yesterday, India has moved to TOP-5 in the countries with more number of COVID-19 cases with the highest single-day spike that occurred Saturday. In the last 24 hours, 9971 cases have been registered and now, at this very point, there is no lockdown in force in the country when the citizens needed the most.

The way India imposed the lockdown is still a mystery for many of the analysts. The Biggest Failure of the Indian Government is imposing lockdown when people have ‘ZERO awareness’ about the virus spread. Yes, if we see at the time period when other countries imposed lockdown, they took their time to impose complete lockdown so that the information related to the precaution measures would reach every part of their nations. But, in India, the lockdown process has begun instantaneously that led people on the streets in the initial days out of panic who are not completely aware of its limitations, conditions, benefits, and consequences of the lockdown.

The lack of awareness about the ways of COVID-19 spread resulted in the gradual increase in the positive number of cases. In a country like India, which is the second-most populous country in the world and with diversified cultures, the limiting of virus spread to a particular region is the most important challenge for the government and they failed terribly in it. If we look at China, they immediately confined the Virus spread to Wuhan by a very effective Lock down. Other than Wuhan the remaining cities in China are barely affected by the virus.

For example, more than 80% percent of cases registered in Nellore and Chittoor district are linked to Chennai’s Koyambedu Market and the majority of the Kurnool’s positive cases have a travel history to Hyderabad. On the other side, the economy was hit very badly and the Indian government was left with no other option but to lift the lockdown restrictions at a very wrong time. Even now, no lockdown has been in force in containment zones effectively and the government should get hurried to bring the situation under control at the earliest.
