Last year, the Amaravati farmers had to file a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court to get their Annuity money from the AP government. This year too, history is repeating, with the government releasing the Annuity money only after the farmers have filed a petition in the High Court again.
Ever since the YSRCP government came into power, the Annuity amount for Amaravati farmers is not being deposited in their bank accounts on time. The government released the amount, Rs. 195 Crores, at a time when the petition is expected to come to hearing within a couple of days.
These farmers should have gotten their amounts deposited by May itself, to be very honest. This is what the previous government used to do – deposit the Annuity amount in the form of cash, directly into the bank accounts of the farmers.
No matter what the Amaravati farmers want, it looks as though the government is not going to respond unless and until they file a petition in the High Court. On the other hand, even the pension amounts that the government promised have been limited to just advertisements, and no concrete action has been taken in that regard either.
