In India, a total of 1.23 lakh crores of GST was levied in March. This was revealed by the Union Finance Ministry. The Union Finance Ministry said that this is the highest number since the GST was introduced in India.
It said that such a large amount had never been levied ever before since the GST came into force. GST collection in December last year was Rs 1.15 lakh crore, while in January this year, it was Rs 1.19 lakh crore and in February, it was Rs 1.13 lakh crore.
The Union Finance Ministry explained that in March, Rs 22,973 crore of CGST, Rs 29,329 crore of SGST, Rs 62,842 crore of IGST, and cess of Rs 8,757 crore (including imports at Rs 935 crore) were collected by the Union government.
