After 100% occupancy rate permit issued by government for theatres, other demands in Tollywood seem to be still pending. With one of their main demands yet to be addressed by the government, theatres and distributors approached court for the second time to receive a favourable order for introducing flexible ticket prices for new films.
The film exhibitors felt delighted as ministry gave a positive response to increase the tickets and rights to use flexible ticket prices.
Newly released films are attracting huge crowd turning theatres into packed houses. This response is more than what we expected,” film exhibitor Vijayender Reddy said.
Although the government had permitted for flexi pricing, it is soon to pass GO for the same. In the application, exhibitors increased the single screens’ tickets price to an approximate average of Rs 30. Presumably the price for single screen- Rs. 80/- might rise to 110/-
CM KCR earlier introduced a poll manifesto as part of GHMC elections supporting Tollywood to have flex timings and prices to boost the film sector. It was also assured that the state Goods and Service Tax (GST) for small budget movies would be reimbursed if TRS wins in the GHMC elections.
