The way that all the political parties of Telangana campaigned for the GHMC elections made it seem like a bigger deal than even the general elections that took place last year. Every party went all out despite Coronavirus, to reach out to the people, and to urge them to vote.
However, coming to the ground reality of the elections today, things turned out to be a total contrast to what was expected, with not even a decent amount of people showing up to cast their vote in these elections. A dismal 36.7% of the population turned up to cast their vote in the elections, up to 5PM.
On the other hand, various fights took place between the members of BJP and TRS, at various places all over the city. A lot of blame games were played around by members of either party, with one accusing the other of something or the other.
With the exception of celebrities and other notable personalities of the city, not many general public turned out to vote. The reasons for this are being speculated, but the main reason is being termed as Coronavirus, due to which a lot of people have reportedly not turned up.
The exit polls of the elections have been postponed due to discrepancies at various polling booths in the city. General public were seemingly upset because of these errors, as a result of which re-polls have been called for.
