Soon after Covid-19 came into picture, USCIS temporarily suspended the premium processing of the H1B visas. Starting from June 1st, USCIS announced that they will be accepting premium processing applications of the I-129 and I-140 petitions.
It is a known fact that the layoffs are raising in the US from the past couple of months. US citizens can get another job without much hassle but for NRIs’ situation is double tough as they have to find the job and then they have to go for visa transfer. With USCIS opening the gates with the premium processing, NRIs can now transfer their visas to the new employer within 15 days, instead of waiting few months. The premium processing may now encourage employers to hire NRIs in the USA.
US Government is planning to shoot up the economy as fast as possible and the H1Bs help for that is highly essential. Lets hope that the world will get ahead of this crisis and will be back on wheels.
