After Ghani, which turned out to be a disappointment, Varun Tej, who has never backed away from doing new films and appearing in interesting roles, has come up with Gandeebadhari Arjuna, which has been released today. The film is directed by Praveen Sattaru, and features Sakshi Vaidya as the leading lady. Let’s see how the film has turned out to be.
Story:
Arjun is an ex-RAW agent, who works as a bodyguard for a very important person. He is tasked with the duty of making sure that his boss is safe, and his country is safe, from those who wish to cause harm to them with their experiments. Arjun also has his personal vendetta in this. What is it, what are those experiments, how do they plan on causing harm, and how does Arjun take care of this situation forms the rest of the story.
On-Screen Performances:
Varun Tej doesn’t disappoint as Arjun. He manages to give the right intensity to hi character and is also good when it comes to the action scenes. He is believable in his role, and does complete justice to it. He once again proves why he is one of the most talented actors in the industry, with this role.
Sakshi Vaidya does not make a huge impact with her performance, but she is definitely better than she was in Agent. She is given slightly more work to do in this film as well.
Nasser is seen in a key role, and he does a good job with that. The rest of the supporting cast do their part well enough, and help take the story forward.
Off-Screen Talents:
The director has not come up with a new script, which is the first major flaw of the film. This story has been seen in various shapes and forms previously and is very familiar and predictable to the audiences. If the director presented the film in a fresh way, however, it could have worked. That is the main problem with Gandeevadhari Arjuna – a familiar story has been presented in a very familiar way, with a dull screenplay and narration. Another major flaw is that the director did not establish certain emotions well within the story, which causes a huge problem for the audiences to associate with that emotion towards the end.
The background score of the film is one of the highlights of the film and makes it passable to a certain extent. The cinematography of the film is also quite food.
The production values of the film are top-notch, as is evident with every frame of the movie. The editing could have been so much better though.
Plus Points:
- Varun Tej’s performance
- Background score
Minus Points:
- Story
- Screenplay
Verdict: Gandeevadhari Arjuna is a tried and tested formula that has been presented in the most mundane manner possible. Skip the movie if you have a better movie to watch.
