Finally after much more pressure… KCR Govt takes action

It could be Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao who was the most criticized the CM in India for his inability to handle the COVID-19 pandemic in a much effective way until yesterday. Yes, in a major development, Telangana government has started cracking its whip on the government hospitals that are overcharging the COVID-19 patients.

Though the complete restriction of the transmission of the Novel Coronavirus is inevitable, one can control the Mortality rate. In Telangana, more deaths are being reported because of the looting nature and overbilling of the Private hospitals for the persons who are admitted with COVID infection and their denial to give admission for a patient who is poor and is critical in condition.

Now, taking charge of those hospitals, Telangana as of now, issued notices banning Deccan Hospital from admitting new patients as they were proved to fleece the COVID patients in their hospitals. This happened exactly a day after the Telangana Health Minister warned the private hospitals about this overbilling issue.

This is a much appreciable effort from the Telangana government to make up for all their mistakes that were done try them at the start of the Pandemic, However, government passed an order to both Private and Corporate hospitals about the charges to be taken for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.

The charges cannot exceed Rs.4,500 per day in normal wards (including isolation), Rs 7,500 in Intensive Care Units (ICU) without a ventilator and Rs 9,000 with ventilator support. These charges include all laboratory investigations, various kinds of tests that are performed with high-quality equipment that is used for proper diagnosis.
