Aishwarya Rajesh has come up with a new film, Farhana, which has been carrying decent expectations on it. The movie has been released today, and all the trailers and teasers of the movie have been received well. Let’s see how the movie has turned out to be.

Story:

Farhana is from a conservative Muslim family, who works in her family business of making footwear. She is supported by her husband, who has progressive thoughts about women. When one of Farhana’s kids falls sick, she decides to take up a new job as a customer care representative, where she begins talking to a stranger. This drastically changes her life. What happens to her and how she survives it forms the rest of the story.

On-Screen Performances:

Aishwarya Rajesh undoubtedly steals the show with her performance as Farhana. She manages to put up a very mature performance and is totally convincing as a working woman, who is a devoted mother. Her emotions take us through the film, making us feel for Farhana’s character in every situation. In the second half of the film, Aishwarya’s performance goes up a notch.

Jithan Ramesh, who plays Aishwarya’s husband in the film, is good enough in his role and supports Aishwarya’s character well. He gives a good take on his character and is quite noteworthy in his contribution till the end.

The rest of the supporting cast are good in their roles, including the villain, who is revealed only in the end.

Off-Screen Talents:

Director Nelson Venkatesan comes up with an interesting concept and excels to a certain extent in executing it well enough too. The first hour is gripping enough, but the tempo is lost from there. The tempo is once again picked up at the interval, and only during the pre-climax once again. Having said that, Farhana is not a boring film either. When things seem to be getting a bit dull, it is Aishwarya’s performance that makes things interesting. Despite the good concept of the film, the Tamil flavor of the film can get a little off-putting for Telugu audiences.

The cinematography is good enough and fits the tone of the film. The background score of the film, given by Justin Prabhakaran, is also quite good, which perfectly gels with the film.

The production values are also good, but the editing could have been much crisper.

Plus Points:

  • Aishwarya Rajesh performance
  • Pre-climax
  • Story

Minus Points:

  • Lack of Telugu nativity
  • A few dragged-out sequences

Verdict: Farhana is a decent thriller, which makes for a good watch. The film offers the perfect thriller feel, and while it may have its dull moments, it doesn’t disappoint. It is a one time watch.
