Former US Olympics women’s gymnastics coach John Geddert died by suicide Thursday, hours after he was charged with sexual assault, human trafficking and abuse of athletes in his care.
Geddart, 63, runs the Women’s Gymnastics Center in Michigan. Many women flock to this centre for gymnastics training. However, sports doctor Larry Nassar recently made sensational allegations that Geddart sexually harassed and mentally abused female gymnasts there.
The police who registered the case on the basis of the allegations made by Nassar are investigating from various angles. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said most of the victims were under the age of 13 or 16.
John Geddert killed himself on the way to appear at the Eaton County court. Many of his victims terming his death an easy escape from justice.
