The first two phases of the vaccination drive in India concentrated on vaccinating frontline workers and those above the age of 45. It has now been announced that the third phase of the vaccination drive would begin on May 1st, which would vaccinate all above the age of 18.
This has been announced after a series of meetings were held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. The government’s statement ready that all adults would be vaccinated in a liberalized and accelerated Phase 3 strategy of COVID-19 vaccination
PM Modi, in a statement, said that the government has been working very hard for over a year to make sure that the maximum number of Indians are vaccinated in the shortest time possible.
On the other hand, India reported a record number of new cases in the last 24 hours, with 2.73 lakh cases in a day. Several states have imposed night curfews and partial lockdowns to curb the spread of the virus in their states.
