ET Movie Review: Routine but okay

Kollywood star Suriya’s film, ET had a simultaneous release in Telugu with the same title. Let’s see how it is.

Story:

ET revolves around the cat and mouse game between Krishn Mohan ( Suriya) and Kamesh (Vinay Rai). Who is Krishna Mohan and why is he after Kamesh, a political influencing personality, forms the main USP of the film.

On-screen performances:

As usual, Suriya is fit and superb with his screen presence in his role as a socially responsible lawyer. Suriya carried the entire film on his shoulders with magnificent performance.

Actor Vinay Rai is fine in his negative shaded character. His one to one phone confrontation episodes with Suriya in the second half brings depth to the proceedings to an extent.

Heroine Priyanka Mohan gets a key role and the young actress did good job in a few crucial scenes in the latter half.

Senior actor Satyaraj, actress Saranya are okay in their purposeful characters. Other artists who played the supporting roles are decent in their respective roles.

Off-screen talents:

Pandiaraj is the director for ET. Though his story is routine, the way he presented the second half will impress the mass audience and Suriya fans. If he would have taken care of the first half proceedings, the result would have been unanimous.

Music by D Immam is okay as all the songs are passable on screen. His background score for the key scenes in the second half is good.

Cinematography by Rathanavel is okay but considering his capabilities, its not up to the mark. Editing by Ruben is decent.

Positive Points:

• Suriya
• A few blocks in second half

Negative Points:

• Routine story
• Dull first half

Verdict:

In an overview, ET is a regular family drama that has a strong social message coated with mass moments in the second half. While Suriya’s performance is a plus point, lack of solid treatment stand tall as demerits for the movie.
