Domestic flight services to resume operations with certain price capping

In a recently held press meet, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has chalked out an elaborate plan to kickstart domestic flight services in India. Domestic flights will resume from May 25th by restraining the operations to one third of the schedule and after careful analysis the flight services will operate normally.

Minister Puri cleared the air by stating calibrated manner indicates that air carriers will only operate with limited flights as opposed to the original schedule. All airports and air carriers are intimated regarding the same to set the services from 25th May, 2020.

Civil animation ministry also notified that high risk persons citizens such as elderly, pregnant women, passengers with other health ailments are advised to avoid air travel. It’s informed that no physical check will be initiated on passengers and only those with prior confirmed web check-in are ought to be allowed into the airport.

The capping has been set up in the following way:

1st section- less than 40 min
2nd section – 40-60min
3rd section – 60-90min
4th section- 90-120 min
5th section- 120-150 min
6th section – 150-180 min
7th section- 180-210min

On the lag routes like Delhi-Mumbai sector, fares will be capped ranging from a minimum of Rs 3,500 to a maximum of Rs 10,000. This pricing will be enforced from May 25 to August 24. To figure out that airlines do not set the higher fare, 40 percent of the tickets will be sold below the mean average of Rs 3,500- Rs 10,000 price capping.
