Corona can survive in drinking water for two days, said Dr. Rakesh Mishra, director of, Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB).
The virus is said to survive depending on the water temperature and other substances in it. He spoke to Divyatej and Karthik, who are actively involved in the genetic discovery of the Kovid virus, at the CCMB in Zoom to raise awareness on the Covid virus.
During this interaction, he said, “Coldwater at temperatures of 4 to 12 degrees has the potential to increase the count of viruses. The virus dies within minutes at 65 degrees in hot water. The virus in water alone does not cause infection.
Cases of Covid transmission through drinking water have not been reported anywhere in our country. So that is not a matter of concern. It is advisable to take lukewarm water and hot ingredients as a precaution. Currently, the virus is spreading only from person to person, through the air.”
